( Italian, 1497 - 1544 )
Rebecca at the Well
Materials:
oil on canvas
Size Notes:
canvas: 31 3/4 by 43 3/4 in.; 80.5 by 111.1 cm.
Edition:
This painting presents itself well. The surface is a slightly dry varnish. There is a small unrestored square in the extreme lower right corner, which some European restorers do to show the change post treatment. The painting has been wax relined with a fine relining canvas, and there is a well repaired tear in the sky upper right, addressed on the reverse with a plastic patch. The painting is painted in a thin manner, and under uv there are numerous, scattered restorations throughout: the sky, the figures, and landscape. Offered in an (antique?) Italian gilt wood frame with foliate motifs; the painting is set in a simple wooden slip.
